Nonprofit Organizations Should Not Cut Corners on Overhead

Recently I was asked to contribute to an article about how Nonprofit Organizations can keep their overhead low.

At first, I declined…

This exact narrative is WHY organizations aren’t scaling at the rate they wish - it’s why they aren’t achieving the initiatives in their Strategic Plans.

If nonprofits are solving some of the most complex issues our society faces today, why would we want to cut corners to do so? Really - we should not spend more time and energy figuring out how to do more on less.

Now, I changed my mind and ended up giving my two cents to the article here.

But, it prompted me to want to share the top areas where nonprofits SHOULD spend more overhead dollars to expedite growth, attract mission-aligned donors, and gain efficiencies…

📈Technology

📈Communications + Brand Voice

📈Professional Development + Staff Training

📈Graphic Design Services

📈Human Resources

📈Financial Management

All of these build a strong engine….that helps you raise more money….for programs.

Full stop [and steps off soap-box].
