Nonprofit Leaders: That fear within you? Use it to grow & scale your organization . . .

Fear has set in.

In any given day, I hear:

“Individuals aren't giving as much any more.”

“A funding source is changing its priorities.”

“Inflation is really impacting donors.”

“But what about the economy?”

Sounds a little like:

“Nobody is going to give because of the pandemic.”

Even if ALL these are true (which they are not)...what percentage would it change overall giving? 2% 5%?

Fundraisers need to STOP with the fear mongering. Nonprofit leaders need to ask, “What do I need to do to equip my team to START having real conversations with donors that would grow giving by 10%, 20%, or even 50%?”

Can I be honest?

Most orgs I work with are leaving 20-50% of existing donor revenue on the table. So, the worry about the economy or the latest industry report saying giving is changing in a drastic way is simply a moot point.

One of my clients landed her largest gift to date last month at $2.5M.

Fear works both ways - use it to grow and scale your organization. Not paint a picture of nonprofit scarcity and doomsday.
