Nonprofit Leaders: It takes times to put your organization on a completely different revenue path . . .

Image of a nonprofit leader's desk with a clock, paper, pen and phone showing that it takes time to change your organization's revenue path

Recently I spoke to a nonprofit leader with a new Strategic Plan wanting to grow their overall budget from $12M to $20M. Lots of earned revenue is in that number, but the charitable revenue needs to grow from $2M to $8M.

Cool. I can help with that.

But, then came this question…

“Can you just coach me for just a few months?”

It’s a fair question. Honestly, I get it often.

And, years ago I worked with organizations for 3 months….sometimes 6 months.

But now? The minimum is 12 months. Why?

Because sprint contracts are for one-off projects, a simple assessment, or creating a deliverable.

If you want to transform the way your organization approaches revenue generation, scale donations by 4X, and secure most of that in general-operating expenses…then we need to work together for at least 12 months.

The biggest lies the nonprofit sector has been told are:

“Fundraising is easy.”

“There’s a secret sauce.”

“You’ve just gotta be relational.”

No. If you’re going to put your organization on a completely different revenue path, that takes time.

If you want to start ATTRACTING donors who can fund this different revenue path, that takes money.

My job in all of this (and why I stopped doing 3 and 6 month engagements)?

My job is to give you a solution that gets you results.

Full stop.

👉 It takes 81% of donors 6 months to 24 months to start making these larger gifts that put you on this new path. I’ve got to be with you during that time period.

Lastly . . . I don’t mean for this to sound too harsh. It’s just that if I don’t offer or present a solution that gets you the results you want, I couldn’t stay in business. I only offer solutions that work.

Yes . . . you’ve got to do the work. But, when you do the work you get results. Working with me is high touch. It’s individualized to where you are in your organization’s growth trajectory.

And, I stand behind my results (the results my clients are getting).

Nearly every client I work with solicits their largest gift to date. Leaders are securing larger gifts (5-, 6-, and 7-figures), moving project-based gifts to unrestricted gifts, and have never been more confident about their budgets growing.

And that’s why I work with organizations longer. Those are the results you pay me for. How about you? Are you ready to get clarity and fix all the things that block donors from giving their best gift to your mission? Apply to work with me here.
