Nonprofit Leaders: Is there evidence within your budget that you are spending money to make money?

In my experience, most nonprofit leaders and board members agree with the phrase, “You have to spend money to make money.” But when you look at their budget, there is no evidence of this….

Evidence I’m looking for?

🔍Headcount increases as a result of the budget growing

🔍Technology to track donor experiences and generate more dollars

🔍Skills-based training for teams

🔍Marketing and Brand assets

🔍Major-gift Collateral

The biggest thing that keeps orgs from growing is their lack of spending —their irrational frugality.

You must identify and invest in resources on a regular basis to scale your organization’s revenue.

Full stop.

What would you add to this list?
