Nonprofit Leaders: Motivating Shifts to Scale Your Nonprofit

I dropped my oldest child off at college on Tuesday. Sigh.

Years ago I committed to trying to model calm confidence for my daughters. But, this week my limits were tested.

My mind wanted me to blurt out at every opportunity:
⚠️Don’t walk alone at night
⚠️Don’t trust strangers #strangerdanger
⚠️Know your limits and boundaries
⚠️Be careful making big decisions
⚠️AND every other warning my mom ever gave me

But, I didn’t.

It was hard, but I said:
🔥It’s going to be fun to try and learn new things.
🔥I can’t wait to hear about the new people you meet.
🔥I wonder what year you’ll study abroad?
🔥You’re a great decision maker.
🔥I believe in you. Just reach out if you need anything.

I’ve worked hard to make this shift away from worrier mom to warrior mom. The latter is WAY MORE motivating, isn’t it?

I think we can make this shift in so many areas when you’re trying to scale your nonprofit. Here's what I mean:

⚠️I couldn’t possibly do that - it’s not in the budget.
🔥We are open to unbudgeted expenses if it benefits our organization and supports our strategic vision.

⚠️We can’t be risky with donor’s money.
🔥It’s worth taking calculated risks to grow our mission and its impact.

⚠️I asked my board and they said no.
🔥My board believes in me and empowers me to make great decisions.

Motivating shifts, right?

I believe in you, too.

See how limiting board members to the Give/Get model restricts gifts in so many ways and keeps your staff from reaching their full fundraising potential. Here to get it.

📈 Work with me to fund your organization’s Strategic Plan and scale your budget by 2 - 5X // If you’re a business-minded CEO already raising MILLIONS but still need more general-operating revenue from individuals and family foundations to invest in growth, you can apply to work with me here.

Sherry Quam Taylor works with business-minded Nonprofit CEOs whose Strategic Plans require expansive budgets and larger amounts of general-operating revenue for growth. To become investment-level ready, Sherry helps leaders see their revenue potential and helps them see what may be blocking donors from giving in this way. Sherry’s clients know how to attract larger donors by solving the funding challenges at the root of the issue.

As a result of learning her methodology, Sherry’s clients become sustainable, diversify revenue, and know how to add significant amounts gen-ops revenue to their budgets. But mostly, their development departments and board have transformed into high-ROI revenue generators – aligning their hours with relational dollars and set free from the limitations of transactional fundraising.

Sherry attributes the success of her business to her passion for modeling radical confidence to the future CEOs in her house - her two college-aged daughters.
