The Better Approach To Your Nonprofit Goal Setting—A Totally Different Pace

For too long the nonprofit sector has told everyone that fundraising is about setting a goal, one time.

You know….

What’s your Gala goal?

What’s your Giving Tuesday goal?

What’s the Campaign goal?

What’s your Golf Outing goal?

What’s worse is teams and even boards become obsessed with hitting these types of goals way more than reaching the overall annual need of the organization.

This approach holds too many amazing missions back from securing all the revenue they need each year to fund their entire annual budget.

Frankly, it’s not the type of fundraising or goal setting that will build a sustainable organization. And it certainly won’t allow you to diversify funding, smooth out cash flow, or build a reserve.

The better approach to goal setting? It’s a totally different rhythm, discipline, and maintenance of a three-five year need. That’s a totally different pace.

That shift in pace is the key shift my clients make to STOP receiving occasional donations and START securing every donor’s best gift, each and every year.

How about you? What’s your approach to goal setting?
